Denmark temporarily suspends visa issuance

Unpleasant news for anyone planning an internship in Denmark: due to COVID-19, SIRI will temporarily not issue a residence permit for training, internship and au-pair programs, as well as accompanying family members.

The Ministry of Immigration and Integration issued an executive order stating that from 3 February 2021 and for four weeks thereafter, residence permits will not be issued to certain categories of applicants. If a foreigner already has a temporary residence permit in one of the above categories, he will be able to enter Denmark (or apply for a change of residence or internship).

If you are denied on the basis of an administrative order, the entire case fee you paid to SIRI will be refunded. If the waiver is made on the basis of non-compliance with the terms of the program, there will be no refund of the case processing fee.

So, in the next four weeks, we will have to wait for the resumption of proceedings. We hope that this is just a short break, and soon Denmark will be ready to welcome trainees again.
