Are you now abroad, and have just heard the news about Ukraine closing its borders? No need to panic – whatever happens, all citizens of Ukraine have right to cross the state borders in order to return to the territory of Ukraine.
On March 16, 2020, from 0.00 to 0.00 on April 3 (night from April 2 to 3), entry into the territory of Ukraine for foreigners and stateless persons will be suspended; international regular passenger services and checkpoints across the state border of Ukraine for rail and bus service will be temporarily closed.
So what’s the right course of action for those Ukrainians who are abroad on vacation, short-term business trip or for other purposes which mean returning home in the next two weeks? First, try to find a way to return to Ukraine before 0.00 on the night of March 16-17.
If this cannot be done, please register in the "Friend" system. This is a special system of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, in which you enter your data and inform the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and all foreign diplomatic missions about your stay in a particular country. For example, lists for the return of Ukrainian citizens home in case of urgent need during the period of restrictions will be formed, in particular, using the data of this system.
